QuikDial Version 2.0 Freeware - September 1993 All Rights Reserved Roger C. Spaeder CompuServe 73670,3161 QuikDial is a Visual Basic 3.0 application that automatically dials telephone numbers for voice calls from a user-specified directory. QuikDial requires MS-Windows 3.1, a VGA or better color monitor, and a modem connected to your PC. You must have a telephone sharing the modem as well. QuikDial uses Hayes-compatible modem commands. The dialing directory has a maximum capacity of 750 entries. All QuikDial files should be installed in a single directory, but the files with DLL and VBX extensions may be installed in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory if you wish. QuikDial requires the Visual Basic 3.0 run-time module VBRUN300.DLL, available on CompuServe and other BBSs. Detailed instructions for configuring and running QuikDial are available on-line by clicking the help (?) button on QuikDial's button bar. QuikDial uses communications port 1 as its default, but another port may be used by specifying it on the command line, as in QUIKDIAL.EXE /3 for port 3. The files included in the QUIKDIAL.ZIP file are: QUIKDIAL.EXE - The executable file QUIKDIAL.DIR - Startup dialing directory QUIKDIAL.HLP - Windows help file for QuikDial QUIKDIAL.TXT - This text file MSCOMM.VBX - Visual Basic support library SS3D2.VBX - Visual Basic support library THREED.VBX - Visual Basic support library Remember to copy VBRUN300.DLL to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory before using QuikDial. Once a dialing operation is initiated, you must immediately pick up the telephone handset (or activate your speakerphone, if you have one) to make the connection necessary for a successful call. IMPROVEMENTS IN VERSION 2.0: 1. /S command line switch added for speakerphone equipped telephones. 2. SS3D2.VBX file size is 20K smaller in this version. 3. Help file contains more and better documentation. 4. Dialing directory holds 750 entries, rather than 600 entries. 5. Improved automatic modem hangup for uncooperative modems. 6. Several bug fixes and improved appearance of interface. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
